This morning I was out of the classroom to attend a PD for the new Student Learning Assessments that the students will be doing at the end of the month. More information regarding the SLA's will be coming home shortly!
Thank you to Mrs. Duperron for coming in and sharing her expertise on "Rocks and Minerals!" The students spent some time sorting their rocks according to "properties" such as shape, texture and color. They were also asked to pick out their two favorite rocks to illustrate and answer a few questions about such as "Why did you chose your rock?" and "What does it remind you of?" We will continue to use these rocks for various other activities throughout the unit.
In the afternoon we continued to work on our reading stamina during Daily 5. The students are up to 15 minutes of independent reading time. Good job 3R! During this time I have been conferencing one-on-one with the students to determine reading levels and strategies to focus on.
Welcome to Mrs. Rothfos' Grade 4 Blog! Here you will find information about the great things going on in our classroom!
