Remembrance Day Ceremony
The students looked great dressed in their best clothes to participate in our Remembrance Day ceremony on Tuesday, November 10th.
May we all take time tomorrow to think about the soldiers that fought for our freedom and those that paid the ultimate price. Lest we forget!
Curricular Update
Writing Workshop
During our Writing Workshop this week, the students were given the following journal prompt:
On Remembrance Day we will take time to remember the people who fought for our freedom. We will be completely quiet and still for one minute to remember. What will you think about during your one minute of silence?
We brainstormed all of the things that we would think about during our minute of silence and then the students were asked to organize their ideas into a paragraph.
Math
In math we continued to work through our numbers to 1000 unit. The curricular focus this week was on comparing and ordering 3-digit numbers.
Social Studies
In preparation of our trip to India, the students researched some essential questions that we would like answered in order to plan our trip. They independently researched some of the following questions about India:
- What language do they speak?
- What is the name of their currency?
- What do people wear in India?
- What do people eat in India?
- What is the weather like at this time of the year?
- What modes of transportation is used?
- What do kids do there for fun?
Science
In preparation of the Rocks and Minerals Unit test, the students played a gamed called Koosh Ball. Behind each ball on the smart board was a question relating to the unit. The students had a great time testing their knowledge about Rocks and Minerals. Next week we will begin our new unit on Hearing and Sound.
We celebrated an early birthday for one of our friends in 3D! Happy Birthday Mr. T!
