Our VIP for the week was Mr. T. We really enjoyed learning more about you!
Language Arts
This was our last week of Words Their Way spelling for the year. It's such pleasure to see the progression the students have made in their spelling this year. I am so proud of each and everyone one of my students.
Best Part of Me
The students typed the good copies of their "Best Part of Me" paragraphs and can't wait to share them with you.
Math
This week in math we continued with our fractions unit. The following outcomes were covered:
- Equal Parts of a Set - understand that fractions can represent equal parts of a set
- Parts and Wholes - compare fractions with the same denominator, the same numerator and divide shapes into equal parts to determine what fraction of the shapes are shaded
Science
As we observe our caterpillars in the classroom, the students are keeping a journal to document the stages of the life cycle.
The students did an amazing job of presenting their bridges to the class. They were so excited to use their bridges to get off the island! I'm proud to report that everyone made it to safety! Great work!
Jack's dad also sent in his bridge project. He gave us the "ok" to see how much weight the bridge would hold before breaking. Let's just say that we didn't run out of books before it collapsed. So fun!
Art
This week in art we used watercolours to paint our Stacked Little Birdies. Five very simple birds are stacked on each other, with the highest one looking at a pretty flower. The students had a great time with this project! The paintings turned out so well!
Student of the Week
Mr. M received our "student of the week" certificate during assembly. Way to go!
