3A Weekly Update
We enjoyed having Mr. G as our VIP this week. He was a great help in the classroom and it was fun getting to know you better.
Language Arts
We began our Charlotte's Web novel as a read-aloud. This beloved book by E. B. White is a classic of children's literature. It's a novel of friendship, love, life, and death that has been enjoyed for generations.
Some Pig. Humble. Radiant. These are the words in Charlotte's Web, high up in Zuckerman's barn. Charlotte's spiderweb tells of her feelings for a little pig named Wilbur, who simply wants a friend. They also express the love of a girl named Fern, who saved Wilbur's life when he was born the runt of his litter.
During writer's workshop the students wrote another paragraph for their "All About Me" journals.
They are also busy typing up their fairy tale stories.
Math
The following curricular outcomes were covered this week:
Kilometers - developing a sense of 1 km and the relationship between kilometers and meters.
- solving problems involving distances in kilometers.
Social Studies
The students are getting good at summarizing and making jot notes from the social textbook. This week we covered goods and services and the environment in Ukraine.
Art
We have been working on a top secret art project this week that you get to see on Sunday!
Congratulations to our Student of the Week!
Bike Safety
We really appreciated our presentation by a public health nurse on the importance of wearing helmets.
You can even drop a raw egg onto the floor and it won't break if it has a helmet on!
The students even got to touch a brain.....well not a real one!
Thank you to the Devon Bicycle Association for coming in to check the student's helmets and adjusting them to ensure a proper fit.
Wishing all of you a fantastic Mother's Day!
