VIP

Congratulations to this week's VIP. We love your new glasses, by the way!

Education Week

Thank you so much to the Devon Lion's Club members for coming to our school on Monday to read to the students.  We really enjoyed having one of the volunteers read "Iggy Peck, Architect"
by Andrea Beaty.  The Lion's Club also gave us a novel called "Upside Down Magig" by Sarah Mlynowski, Lauren Myracle and Emily Jenkins.

The rocks that each student painted are now "swimming" outside of the school. Please take a look the next time you visit!

Hats On for Mental Health

On May 4, 2017,  the students were invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health.

Wellness Day

On Wednesday, the school celebrated "Wellness Day." Each student in the school attended three "wellness" sessions. Please ask your child which sessions he or she attended. Mrs. Forchuk and I led the "drawing under the desks" like Michelangelo.

Writing Workshop

We have been writing our fairy tales for a few weeks now focusing on strong beginnings, making our characters and story come to life and adding a lot of details. This week the students finally finished writing their drafts. We discussed that the ending happens only after the problem is fixed and solved. The students learned how to finish their fairy tales with happy endings.

Math

This week in math we covered the following goals:
- investigate the relationship between centimeters and meters
- convert measurements in meters and centimeters to only centimeters
- measure in meters and centimeters

May the Fourth Be With You!

On May 4th the students were given Star Wars multiplication booklets to work on. They had lots of fun with these.

Science

The students did an amazing job of presenting their bridges to the class.  They were so excited to use their bridges to get off the island!  I'm proud to report that everyone made it to safety!  Great work!

Social Studies

This week we continued to take jot notes about the traditions and culture in Ukraine.

P.E.

Mr. Larson taught the students Indigenous Games to celebrate Education Week.

Student of the Week

Congratulations to Mr. M for being chosen as our Student of the Week!
