Thank you so much to those of you who were able to attend parent teacher conferences on Wednesday night. It was great to meet with all of you. If your child took their goal sheet home, please be sure to send it back to school as soon as possible. Your support with your child's academic goal setting and learning is greatly appreciated.
Christmas Cards
The students worked very hard on creating a one-of-a-kind Christmas card. These If you were able to join us for parent teacher conferences, your child has already brought home an order form. Please fill it in and return by Friday, November 10th. If you don't have an order form and would like one, please send me an email. Thanks!
VIP
We had a wonderful VIP this week. Thank you for sharing your poster and special items with the class.
Writing Workshop
The students continued to work on their "I Need My Monster" descriptive writing piece. Once they were finished their writing, the students were asked to type it up in a Google Doc. The student's monster illustrations and descriptive paragraphs are now on display in our classroom.
Journal Wrtting
Word Study continues to be a focus in 3A
Amazing Race
Congratulations to our amazing readers this week who flew to their next destination.
Math
This week we focused on number patterns in tables. The students had to identify rows and columns in a table and describe patterns in a table of numbers. We also went on to recognize the pattern when counting money - skip counting by 1's, 5's, 10's and 25's.
The students mapping assignments were due on Monday. The assignment required your child to create a map of their favourite place to live. The students worked very hard on their projects and turned in very creative, well thought-out maps. I mean, who wouldn't want to live in Candy Town or at the Beach? Great job everyone!
This week our focus in social studies was on learning about the 7 continents and the 4 oceans on earth. As well, the students worked together to fill in their map of Canada by identifying all of the provinces and territories.
This week our art project was inspired by the book "Monster Mama" written by Liz Rosenberg. The students began their "Monster Mama" portraits by drawing and colouring the screaming faces with oil pastels. Next week the students finish their art work by blow painting in the hair. The "Scream Blow Paintings" will be on display in our hallway in time for Halloween.
