December 15th - 19th

We had a great last week of school before Christmas Holidays.

Curricular Update

Writing Workshop

The students continued to enjoy writing about Candy Cane in their Elf Morning Reports.

Polar Express

In Writer's Workshop the students were asked to write about what they would ask for if they received the first gift of Christmas. The focus for this writing project was to put their writing in a proper paragraph. The students' paragraphs needed to include a topic sentence, at least five detail sentences and a concluding sentence.

Author's Chair

The students enjoyed sharing their writing about the first gift of Christmas during author's chair.

Reader's Workshop

During Reading Workshop we watched the Polar Express movie. With a partner the students were asked to compare the movie to the book. Comparing the differences and similarities between texts or a book to movie is a fantastic comprehension strategy for readers.

The students enjoyed practicing and performing their Polar Express reader's theatre.

Math

We really enjoyed celebrating our Star Student this week.

Congratulations to our Student of the Week.

PJ and Stuffie Day

Thanks so much to the parents who provided the wonderful brunch items for our party!

The students received a very special delivery from our Elf on the Shelf. Candy Cane personally delivered the students' letters from Santa. Each student enjoyed reading their letter and sharing them with their friends.

The students enjoyed their movie afternoon in the gym.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
