Diary of An Animal Writing Project

This week students completed their animal research for their Diary of an Animal project.  Using their research they will began planning and writing a diary for the animal they have researched.  They were asked to pretend that their animal can keep a diary, like the worm in Diary of the Worm. The students are required to use their humour to write about their animal research.

Words Their Way

Every Wednesday the students complete their "draw and label" activity to practice their Words Their Way list for the week. The students are throughly enjoying this activity to build their vocabulary.

 Math

This week we covered the following goals in math:

• estimate and measure perimeters of given and self-created shapes in standard units. 
• predict the perimeter of figures in growing patterns.

Social Studies

The students finished their research on Ukraine and started working on their Google Slide presentations.

P.E.

Thank you to Mr. Henderson for getting our class going on drum fit this week. He led the first few classes. Later in the week, the students had a chance to be the teachers. Everyone had a great time!

4 Cats

This week the students of RBES had the opportunity to be given an art lesson instructed by an artist from the 4 Cats Art Studio in Leduc. The inspiration for the grade 3 students' painting was Edgar Degas. Degas was a French artist famous for his paintings, sculptures, prints, and drawings. He is especially known for his paintings of dancers and horses.

The student's artwork is now on display in our hallway. Please join us on Monday, May 9th from 3:30-6:00 pm for our Celebration of the Masters where you can take a look at the paintings done by the rest of the school as well.
