Writing Workshop
Last week we read the "Snow Globe Family" by Jane O'Connor. This book inspired our writing project about "Life in a Snow Globe." The focus for this activity was to vary our sentences starters and to use vivid verbs in our writing.
The students are getting much more independent in writing their "Back and Forth" journal entries.
They always love sharing during "author's chair."
Math
This week we worked on "subtracting from 100 by regrouping" and "subtracting from 100 by subtracting from 99 first and then adding 1 to the answer."
Science
This week the students enjoyed working through seven Hearing and Sound centers. The students are recognizing that pitch is the result of differences in the rate of vibration. The quicker the vibration, the higher the pitch and vice versa. They also had the opportunity to demonstrate a variety of ways to produce a sound.
Art
This week in art we did a "Valentine's Day Heart Fingerprint Tree." They turned out so cute!
Winter Walk
We had a great day for our winter walk. The weather was beautiful and the students had so much fun. Thank you to the staff who prepared hot chocolate and had it ready for when the students returned from the walk.
Student of the Week
Way to go Mr. R for being chosen as our Student of the Week!
