May 28 - June 1

June has arrived and we are now on the home stretch. Summer is right around the corner, but were are still working very hard to get everything done before the end of the year.

Swimming

Although the weather wasn't as nice this week, we still had a great time swimming!

Cowboys and Cowgirls......yippee!

John Maland Drama Production of "Newsies"

The students enjoyed a little treat after the performance.

Curriculum Update for the Week:

Literacy

The students finished their fairy tales during Writer's Workshop this week.

The students shared their stories with a friend to help each other improve, revise and edit their writing.

During Reading Workshop the students continue to work on their comprehension.

Math

This week in math we began our Measurement unit. The focus was to estimate and measure lengths to the closest centimetre, as well as, draw lines and objects of lengths given in an exact number of centimetres, with and without a ruler.

Science

We are still waiting patiently for our sunflowers to sprout.

Our caterpillars have formed chrysalises. We have them hanging in the classroom habitat and we are anxiously waiting for the butterflies to emerge.

This week we learned more about the life cycle of fish, sea turtles and chickens.

Art

The students finished their butterfly pointillism project in art.

Congratulations to our Student of the Week. Way to go "partner!"
