Wednesday was a fun day full of Halloween activities. We started the day off with a group picture and then went to the gym for the parade of costumes.
We spent the afternoon playing games, eating snacks and watching a movie. The students enjoyed preparing the bingo cards by filling in their own Halloween words. The best part was nibbling on the candies which doubled as bingo chips!
After our bingo game, the students got to participate in three minute-to-win-it challenges.

The first challenge was "rocket stacking" to see who could stack the most rockets without them falling down!
The first challenge was "rocket stacking" to see who could stack the most rockets without them falling down!
"Sweet Suck Up" was the second challenge where the students had to transfer as many candies from their plate to a cup using a straw!
Finally, the students were challenged to pick up "unicorn poop" with chop sticks. The student with the most marshmallows in their cup was the winner!
Thank you so much to the parents who supplied food for our Halloween party. It was delicious!
We finished off our party by watching a bit of the movie "Coraline." The students continued to watch it during lunch for the rest of the week.
Curricular Update
Writing Workshop
The students enjoyed the opportunity to "free write" during journaling this week. They enjoyed being able to freely generate ideas for writing in their journal.
All About Me
This week the students began their "All About Me" paragraphs. Each month the students will choose from a list of topics to write a paragraph about themselves. The purpose of this assignment is to focus on proper paragraph writing, including a topic, detail and concluding sentences. After writing on the topic about " My Family" the students will type their paragraphs on the Chromebook. Then they will draw and colour an illustration to go along with their writing.
